Feels like yesterday

My little sister and I are 12 1/2 years apart. Basically we were both raised as the only child! It feels like yesterday that my parents and her drove me to college to drop me off. 6 hours away from home, no car. I knew my two cousins and had met my roommate once. It was scary for all of us. I can never forget though as they were leaving. I was carrying my little sister (she was 5 at the time). She was screaming through the dorm halls and everyone was watching her cling to me. It was heart wrenching. Then we walked down to the borrowed mini van. I put her in her car seat and started crying. My mom was beyond her usual bucket of tears. Then I turned and saw my dad crying and heaving like he was going to throw up. Yeah. I did not want to stay at that point. I wanted to leave my stuff and jump back in the van and go HOME. Then, the moment. They started driving AWAY from me. Etched in my memory forever is my little sister crying her big brown eyes out, hands pressed against the glass screaming, "My Sissy! Don't take my Sissy! I want Sissy!" Wow. I barely made it up to my dorm room. Once there I found a letter from my dad. A horribly sweet heart-breaking letter. Well, for my parents they have this moment coming up again. My sister found out yesterday that she was accepted to the college of her choice, Johnson Bible College!! I was so excited for her and so proud of her. But it brought back these memories with a vengeance and I had to share. Thanks for traveling with me down memory lane and congrats sister!!!! We are all so proud of you and love you!!!!

Reminds me of the Audio Adrenaline song "...it seems like yesterday..." ...hmm... I thought they sang that line a few more times. Oh well.
