Physical

Well, my husband did pass his physical today! I find that SO exciting and scary! Our next hurdle is the board. If they approve him then he will get offered a "job". If he accepts, then it is just a matter of getting a class date. Yikes and hooray! I just cannot believe that a conversation during our 6 year anniversary has led to this moment. I am unable to fathom what our future may be holding for us.
Our four year old has her appointment with the speech therapist for the results of her test last week. The principal requested to come. Also, they asked her preschool teacher to be there. A friend of ours offered to keep the girls so that my husband and I can attend without kids hearing. I do not want her to hear anything about this.
That is all of our news for now. Thanks for reading! =)

Happy 17

Today is my sister's 17th birthday!!! YEA! Happy Birthday! We got to help her celebrate by going out to dinner with them. We all had a really great time.
My husband is going right now. He is away overnight taking his physical for the ARMY. He will know his results by this time tomorrow!! I feel excited and scared all at the same time. I know that this is setting something up for us. Either he will fail and the military option is out, or he will pass and more than likely be IN the military within the next 6 months. I will keep you posted!!

Push Ups

Tonight it was so cute! My husband did not make it to the gym. So he challenged the girls to an exercise contest. They were wearing: 4 yr. old - Her ballet outfit which is clingy and purple. 3 yr. old - panties. They were doing push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks and leg lifts. It was too cute! We were all laughing our heads off. Just thought I'd share!

Hairy

This morning our eldest was scratching my husbands back. He said, "Wow! Thanks honey! That feels so good. My back was really itchy." She says, "Oh, cause of all that hair you have on it?" Ahhh, from the mouths of babes!!

ASVAB

My husband passed the ASVAB with flying colors today!! I guess he goes next Thursday for an all day physical. He will have to stay over night for that part. Then he will go on Feb. 13th in front of the board and if that goes well then he will be in! It seems like it took forever to get here but that now things are flying by.

Missing me

Tonight I went to a jewelry party at my friends house. I was gone for a few hours total. When I came home the girls were in their room. They were calling, "Mommy! WOOOOO! YEA!!!!!!!!!!!" and other various terms of endearment and excitement. I was feeling so special and pranced over to see them. The cat came too. Our youngest said, "Mommy I missed you and I think Daisy did too. That is why she is meowing." I was practically glowing and then she said, "Actually I think she just needs to poop." DEFLATE. Oh well. Maybe next time.
My day did have an up side to it. My husband came home with a package for me today. He had gotten me a sweater, shirt and wrote me a note saying how much he appreciated me. Now THAT is sweet!

Boutique Critque

Down the street and around the corner from the hill where our house is sits an interesting boutique. Actually it is a store with Grateful Dead dancing bears painted in the windows, leather apparel and bongs for sale. As we were passing it the other night, I pointed out the silly dancing bears to the girls. Our four year old immediately pipes up, "Look! Dancing Head Bones!!!!" My husband and I lost it! They had a picture of a skull and calls it a dancing head bone! That was our big laugh for the night until we watched American Idol that is.
My husband found out today that he will take the ASVAB on this Friday, have his physical next week and mid-February he will go in front of the board. So probably by the end of next month, we should know whether or not we are getting in!!

Testing

We took our four year old to have her evaluation today. It went really well. She obviously would not dream of speaking, but she did point at things! Also, the evaluator sat in and listened while we played with her and she talked a LOT then! We also heard back from the schools about the process from this point. It sounds like a lot. It sounds like today was just a formality and that we will have to get other disorders ruled out before we can get and true help for her.
Now we are kicking back and laughing our heads off at American Idol! My husband goes in tomorrow to fill out MORE paperwork on the Army! Exciting week here!

Compliments

I got a huge compliment from our four year old today! We had made a trip over the weekend to our local organic/health food store. We bought some pita bread (all whole grains etc.) I decided that I would use some leftover spaghetti sauce and make mini pizzas for our lunch. I made two because I really figured they would not like the pita bread. Our four year old asked me, "Was this delivered?". I told her that mommy made it and she said, "Wow! This is better than delivered! I love this and never want another kind!" THEN they ate it all and were begging for the same meal for dinner! It made me feel good! Then tonight at dinner, she was explaining to her daddy, why is hamburger probably did not taste real good because it was no made on homemade bread. She is so cute!

COLD

It is SO cold here right now!!
Our four year old goes on Tuesday to meet with a language specialist to see if there is anything they can do for her. I was really excited to find out that in this months Redbook magazine there was a page highlighting a lady who has a daughter with selective mutism! That was encouraging to us.
Tonight was tons of fun for our girls! We had our small group Bible study. But afterwards most of us went to a McDonald's with an indoor playland. We walked in with 10 adults (2 of whom are pregnant) and 11 kids! It was completely fun and crazy! There were no serious injuries and only one child crying when we all left! I think that was a major accomplishment!
Not much news, but we do have a busy week, so I hope to have more exciting posts later in the week!

Snow Balls

Snow Angel

SNOW

We finally had a snowfall! It was probably close to 3 inches. Our girls were able to go out and play. We made great snowballs and a tiny little snowman that our three year old laughed at and then promptly destroyed. Our dog Slushy, was able to get her first playtime in the snow. She was VERY unwilling to go out in it, but once she saw me and the girls she thought it was great! I told my husband that I think she ran about 2 miles in our yard! She sniffed and ate snow the whole time we were out there. Very cute! I was unable to go to work this morning because I could not get out of our drive.
It was nice! We made waffles, played in snow, did laundry, made granola and made homemade bread ALL in one short morning! I love it!

A Whole New World

Many of you probably do not know, but our four year old has been having some problems in her preschool. She LOVES it, loves her teacher and the kids, but she is unable to speak there. Not just there, but at Awanas, soccer and to most anyone she is not around frequently. We took her to the pediatrician today because we are concerned she has a disorder called Selective Mutism. Go ahead. Google it. It is amazing! Comforting, because we are obviously not alone in this and terrifying because it is more serious than I originally thought. You can read positive accounts and then find a story about teachers who punished kids for not speaking. Anyways, please be praying for her. They are sending her to a pediatric psychologist. I will keep everyone posted.

Idol News

Guess what??? American Idol starts up tomorrow! I, for one, am SO excited! My husband is WAY less than thrilled. I cannot help loving this show! Last season was no good, but I have heard they are shaking things up for this season.
Tonight was fun! We are our friend and their kids over for dinner. We made a turkey and it turned out well. It is one of those days when I am SO glad the girls are in bed. They were rotten little stinkers all day long and I am worn out.
I went to Old Navy and they are having a HUGE clearance sale!! We got 5 HUGE bags filled to brim and spent less than $80!! It was amazing!

Dinner Time

Tonight while we were eating, I heard the girls start to make fun of other's food. I reminded them not to do that and why. So when our four year old prays before the meal, she said, "Thank you God for giving us all different taste bugs". My husband and I were choking down our laughter! So cute!

Human Crumminess

Today started off great! We woke up and realized the girls had let us sleep until 7:30! We had a healthy breakfast and then hit the gym. I went and met my parents and sister and we took the girls to a free showing of "Strawberry Shortcake: Berry Blossom Festival." It was really cute and the girls enjoyed it! We went with my parents to lunch and then came home. It was a great drive, the girls were sleeping and I was listening to the Christian station. We were less than a mile from my husband's office. I had decided to stop by and say hi to him and let the girls roller skate in the parking lot (it's flat, which is a HUGE benefit). Then this man almost hits our four year olds side of the van. I blared the horn. He got behind me and went into the left turn lane and rolled his passenger window down. Assuming he wanted to apologize, I rolled mine down. He said, "Why don't you learn to drive?" I said, "ME???? You almost hit me!" He said, "Yeah and I did it on purpose ******". I yelled, " I have kids in here and you do too! Act like it!" Then he peeled out. I called Cliff and he told me to call 911. I did. By the time I got to Cliff, I was a basket case. I had the shakes for close to an hour. I just cannot believe someone would try to hit my babies ON PURPOSE and FOR NO REASON! I thought I was going to throw up. 911 was going to send out an officer. So, the girls played and we waited for about an hour. My husband said they were real busy so I called and told them not to worry about it. There would not have been anything they could have done anyways. But it reminded me of just how crummy humans can be. I am so sore and tired now that all that adrenaline is gone. I am also SO thankful that we are home safe and sound. Thank you Lord for protecting us!!

7 years ago right now....

7 years ago right now, I was sitting in an office going through a magazine because my (now husband) had proposed to just an hour or so before! 7 years ago today I became engaged and later on this year we will celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary! I cannot believe how much has changed in the past 7 years. Tonight we have hired a sitter and I think we are going to see the movie "The Bucket List". It opens tonight and we have gift certificates to the movies and to the bookstore! 7 years ago, our celebration was sparkling grape juice with my parents and sister.
On a completely different note.... Our four year got her day off to a REAL cute start. This is what she told me. "Mommy, this morning I woke up at 6 dot dot three, just like you told me. I came out and saw Daisy (our cat) and thought 'Hey! I bet Daisy is ready for a special date!' and I decided to give her one. So I got a blanket and the book called "Rain Drop Plop" and I opened it to the page where you can see the kitty cat peeking out the window. I got a ball, "No Blue Food", another blanket for Daisy cat and one of my toys for her to play with. I told her to lay on the blanket and she did. Then I read her "No Blue Food" and I got all the words right. I did! Then I noticed she had crumbs on her so I wiped them off. I think Daisy thought our date was over and she got up. I cleaned up and then swept up the crumbs. It was great. I think I'll do it again soon." My husband and I think THAT is a moment to remember!!

First time at dentist

Today was our three year old's FIRST trip to the dentist and she did great! She did everything they asked of her and she left happy! Oh, cavity-free too, I should add. BUT for those of you who know her and her history you may guess that I have more to say. They kept checking her bite. I sat there all confident that it was due to her thumb-sucking. However, he looked at me said, "This little girl needs a referral to an orthodontist." WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? Yeah. She has a small overbite due to the aforementioned thumb-sucking, which he said is no biggie. Ideally, she could quit sucking her thumb, but that is not the problem. The problem is that she is trying to compensate for the overbite by shifting her whole jaw over. If left unattended he said it could create long term jaw and facial problems. YIKES! I guess in February we'll be heading to the orthodontist! Fun, fun. But I should have expected this. She is the queen of abnormal doctor appointments!!! =)

The cord is here!

After daily calls from my persistent husband, our extended warranty delivered our new power cord and it only took the 8 weeks! Amazing huh?
Today ROCKED here in our corner of the world! The weather was beautiful! I took the girls over to our friends house and they all played outside in short sleeves for close to 2 hours! They had a blast! So did my friend and I =). Anyways, it wore them out and they were asleep by 7:01!
Our four year old discovered tonight what she calls, "...a new ice-cream!" I gave her some raw soy beans for dinner and some peanut butter for dipping. She covered the peanut butter with soy beans, ate them with a spoon and declares that it tastes like the best ice-cream ever! Of course, she also dips corn dogs in peanut butter, says that triscuts eaten with a grape taste like a doughnut and refuses to eat anything like peanut butter and jelly! So, you can take her culinary advice or leave it if you so choose! =)

Dear God

Ok. Our three year old is one of the sweetest little kids ever. She was the best little baby and I have always had this fear that she will get ill. She has this personality that draws people in. You always hear stories about kids like that who get seriously ill. She had given us a few scares but so far we are good. However, the other day she asked me for crayons and coloring books because she wanted to make a picture for someone. She worked HARD on it for quite sometime. I come to see it and she has done a great job! I ask her who it is for and she says, "God. I made it for Him." I say, "Oh, how sweet! Should we hang it on the fridge?" She says, "No, I am saving it to take to Heaven with me. In two days I'll give it to Him in Heaven." Seriously, I could not make this up! Luckily two days have passed and we are ok!! I am saving the picture for her baby book.

No cord

I am sorry for my blatant lack of blogging, but we are still waiting on our new computer cord. This means our computer is only charged about half the time. By the time I pay bills and respond to emails, the battery is usually shot! For any of you with experience in "extended warranties" you will sympathize with what we are going through!
We are all good. Happy and Healthy! That is an excellent way to start the new year! Our little girls had a dream come true this weekend. Their favorite movie EVER is called "Candy Land: The Great Lollipop Adventure!" We do not own it (because then it would not be special). But whenever we have a trip longer then 2 hours, we will rent it and let them watch it. They LOVE it! In fact, last time we went to rent it the man said, "You do realize you have rented this before? 8 times?" So, their aunt called and told me that it was showing for free ON THE BIG SCREEN! She made up invitations and she surprised them by taking them to see it! They had a blast! The rest of the day they spent play-acting the adventure! If you have kids between 2-6 you MUST rent this at some point! It is so sweet! You will find yourself wondering what the writers were on when this was made AND walking around the house humming, "Yummy scepter". If you've seen it, you know what I mean.

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seriously cannot believe that 2008 is here and the first day is almost gone. We are currently getting some snow flurries and it is COLD for the first time since fall arrived. We had a really great New Year's Eve at our friends house. All the kids were cute and really well behaved. The adults had tons of fun too! Today was great because my husband was home all day!! He took the girls our to fly a kite, we strung cereal for the birds, and then we all played "Pretty, Pretty Princess". I managed to win, which is a surprisingly difficult feat! Anyways, I hope 2008 is an incredible year for all of you!!!!
