2 and 1/2 months after

It is about 2 1/2 months since the dog attacked the Genius. We had the girls at their therapist today. (The one they see for their Selective Mutism). We are still struggling to regain the ground that was lost due to the attack. It has been frustrating. The doctor was asking how we were. Apparently she thinks I am having a "trauma response" because I am more nervous around dogs. Not quite sure I agree but ok. We expressed concern because her fear of dogs has been increasing instead of decreasing. The doctor said it is typical but that the Genius is on the verge of having a full blown phobia of dogs. Our mission is to try and get daily interactions with NICE dogs. Do you have any idea how hard that is? The doctor told us 2 stores we could hit on the way home with dogs. We did that and the Genius giggled and eventually held her hand under mine to help give the dog a treat. The friendlier of the dogs she actually petted a little. Unfortunately these nice dogs are an hour from our house. Not exactly practical. We don't know anyone here with a dog. I do believe we need to keep her in contact with friendly dogs though. It hurts me to know that she is struggling with this. I understand it but I just hurt for her. She is such a sweet girl.

One of my best friends lives near you and she has a dog. I will email her and you could possibly visit her house frequently. Her husband is a minister and they also have a little girl.

Oh, I hope that will work out! Aren't there any pet stores in Radcliffe or E-town that might have puppies to visit?
