From the Genius:
She went to the football game with my parents on Friday night. They were introducing her to a lady from church. She has a daughter in the same grade as the Genius. She evidently asked the Genius if she knew her daughter. She said, "Oh yeah I know her! She is the one who always butts in line in front of everyone!" Oh my! LOL! The mother said it sounded just like her daughter! I am so glad my parents were the ones there!
From the Hippie:
I was their teacher in Sunday school today. We were talking about how great God is. The kids were all supposed to share one way that God is great. The Genius said, "God sent his Son to die on the cross for us so we could be forgiven for all our sins." The Hippie...."He did a real great job choosing 12 disciples who loved Him a lot."
From the Professor:
Poop. And lots of it. Last count was 6 poopie diapers today. Not counting the times we had to change him because he was wet. But along with all the poop we also get smiles, lots and lots and very big, very gummy smiles!

Selective Mutism...the Struggle Continues
Sometimes I get so sick of dealing with Selective Mutism. I know there are worse things we could face and deal with, but it is still frustrating. This morning we went in for a meeting with the girls teachers. The Genius's teacher says she is right on target for her age and that she is speaking in most places. However, she is not speaking to her teacher and is not really speaking in her classroom. Her teacher said that her scores are average and that she is right on target for her age. The Hippie's teacher told us that she is still in full anxiety mode. It just breaks my heart to hear that. The Hippie is getting some of the lowest scores in her class and gets teary eyed if her teacher calls on her. When asked to perform she shuts down so she is not accurately tested (hence the low test scores). Plus, how can you test a child that has trouble even pointing because she is so anxious? This is just so hard to handle. I miss doing home-school and having them in public school was supposed to be helping them. We have seen lots of improvement with the Genius but how can this be positive for the Hippie? I am not sure there is an answer here. I just wish that our girls could kick Selective Mutism to the curb and I wish that their teachers knew our "real" kids. I wish they could see their huge smiles and hear the Hippie's infectious laugh. I wish I knew how to help and if this is still the best thing for our kids.

She is a Member!
Last night was Awana's. The Hippie decided not to go. She was tired. We thought she was getting sick because she wanted to go to bed 2 hours early and skip Awana's. We let her and she was asleep immediately! She woke up healthy and happy today. Guess she just needed some rest. She has always been our good sleeper. So the Genius went to Awana's alone. She had a great time! When she came home, she rushed in and showed me this little card. I looked at it and exclaimed, "Oh WOW! You got an Awana's membership card!!!" She squeals back, "I KNOW! What is a membership card?" LOL! Gotta love kids!
By the way, the poll is closed and it looks like dusting and laundry tied for the two worst chores! =)

Just Like Daddy
My husband has this truly awful habit. It has ruined many a date night for us. It has made me mad a few times and has been the cause of several "discussions". See, he always gets silly during MY chick flicks!! You ladies know what I am talking about here....you are watching a great movie (think any movie based on a Nicholas Sparks book) and you are building up the moment. The Big Cry. My husband CONSISTENTLY chooses that exact moment to laugh. Am I able to complete my cry? Absolutely not. The moment is totally ruined for me. Never to be regained. So tonight my husband had the girls at Awanas. I had DVR'd "A Walk to Remember". The Professor and I were watching it together. He had been doing his little baby thing...eating, pooping, playing. He got a little fussy so I picked him up and sat him on my lap. He looked up and was watching our TV. The moment was coming. The Big Cry. I was alone. Just my baby and me and I am ready. Bring on the tears! The moment came and....THE PROFESSOR LAUGHED! And who can resist a giggling baby? Not this mama. All I can say is like Father like Son.
Professor's First Halloween
I had a sweet friend send me some links today with some easy at home costume ideas for a baby. I am perplexed as to how to dress the Professor for his very first Halloween. I refuse to have him be a pumpkin..I mean, they are cute and all but way overdone. My husband and I refuse to buy an outfit that he will wear all of once. I also will not let him dress up as anything bad, no monsters etc. So what am I left with? I am left with a blog and seeking your advice! Please post links or ideas or whatever and help us come up with a costume for the Professor!
Also, only 1 day left to vote on the poll and we need some tie breakers!

About Poop...and Cloth Diapers
I read a very funny (and informative) post today on cloth diapers and poop. It made me think about our Professor and his pooping habits. The title of that blog post was
That is a lovely diaper…… FOR ME TO POOP ON!
My husband and I actually have a running joke that the Professor has a favorite pooping diaper. We have no real proof to speak of, but he really does prefer this one specific diaper.
His Happy Heiny's Silly Monkeys diaper. We have no idea why he prefers this diaper, but we just know that 99% of the time as soon as we get it on him, he poops. Our current working theory is that the diaper is just so comfy on him that he cannot help it! No matter what though it is true. Now aren't you glad you read this post?
