Chocolate Covered Almonds

Last night my husband took the girls to Awana's.  While they were there he went grocery shopping to get a few things we needed (yes, he IS that great!).  He also picked a few surprises for the girls lunches.  One of which was some white chocolate covered almonds.  I was so pleased and could not wait to pack them as a surprise in their lunch today.  After school I asked how their lunches were.  The Genius said she liked everything but wondered why I gave her chocolate raisins.  I explained that they were chocolate covered almonds.  She said she did not know that and had given them to her friend to eat.  When we got home I went to unpack their lunch boxes.  Inside her box I found.....the almonds....minus the chocolate covering.  EW!  Her friend ate the chocolate off and then spit the almonds back in.  I was beyond disgusted!!! We had a long discussion about germs and sharing with friends etc....  I hope to never experience this again.

On a MUCH happier note:
The girls have been able to walk or bike to school every day.  We go with them most of the way and then watch them til they get to the crossing guards.  When we picked the girls up today the Genius said, "Do you know what happened at the crossing guards today?  we had to cross with a whole FLOCK of teenagers!"  LOL!  Gotta love our girls! =)

2nd week of school

The second week of school is rapidly coming to a close.  We got an email from the Genuis' teacher.  She said she is doing great!  She is talking to lots of kids, volunteers in the class and is speaking to almost every teacher...except her own teacher! LOL!  We are just so pleased!  The Hippie on the other hand is still not talking.  I wish we had a magic button to push and help her out.  The Hippie is excited though because of her upcoming birthday!  I cannot wait to bake a treat and take it into her class!  The Genius is excited because she gets to get a hot lunch at school tomorrow.  It will be her first time to go through the line.  Every other day we have packed a lunch for her.  The Hippie does not want to go through the line, she wants me to keep sending her lunch with her.  Such different girls and such sweet girls!  Last night they started Awana's again.  Both girls are very excited and it is nice for them to have an activity one night  a week.
The Professor had his two month check up.  He has gotten HUGE!  He is up to 14 pounds and 24 inches!  We could not believe it!  Sadly, he did not handle his injections very well.  He was sleepy and cranky the rest of the day.  But today he was smiling again and seems to be much better!  He is doing wonderful at night!  Most nights he is in bed by 10 and just up once for about 20 minutes and then sleeps til around 7.  Such a good boy!
Hope everyone is having a great week!

Siblings

The Hippie is turning 6 this month.  She was very excited to learn that I am allowed to bake a treat and send it into her class for her birthday!  She wants cupcakes.  Pretty easy for me to do and it will thrill her!  But then, she says, "Mommy, our teacher said we can bring in something special to share with the class for our birthdays and I wondered if you could bring my brother in, 'cause he is special and we love him."  I about melted into the ground.  Our two girls love the Professor SO much!  He has interrupted their schedules, TV shows and story time and they have never once complained.  They play with him, hold him, kiss him and want to show him off to their friends whenever they can!  I love our kids!!!!!!!!!

School Days

The girls have been in public school for 3 days now.  We miss having them home with us and seeing them all day long.  The Genius seems to be adjusting quite well and with her we are seeing the results we have prayed for.  She is talking at lunch and recess to her friends and she is speaking to other teachers...just not HER teacher!  But we will take it!  She seems happy and has not expressed any concerns with school.
The Hippie is not talking at all and seems to be kinda lonely.  But she also seems excited about school and she really likes her teacher.  So we are praying she will loosen up and make some friends and start talking some.
I had intended to blog some more but the Professor is calling! =)

Here's Looking at YOU

Isn't the Professor adorable?  He is such a good baby too!  On Sunday my parents kept all three kids for the first time and my husband and I went out on a late anniversary date!  We had some yummy Chinese food for lunch, did some birthday shopping for the Genius and finished the date with a yummy diet coke!  The Professor did great while we were gone.  He drank a bottle and his Gampy loaded him up in the stroller and took him for a walk.  It was so sweet to come home from our date and see the Professor sitting outside with Gampy and the girls were playing with Nana.  It felt so wonderful to finally have some alone time with my hubby!  The Professor slept through the night once and so far has not repeated it.  I do admit that he IS sleeping better, but sure will be thankful when I can sleep all night long again.
The girls first dday of school went well for them.  They were not super excited about it, but I am hoping that is just gets better and better for them both.  The Hippie kinda thought school was a one time thing.  But she seemed ok with returning today.  I cannot wait to pick them up and hear all about it!

Overheard

The other day the girls came running in from the yard so they could go potty.  They still go in at the same time and think nothing of it.  I was coming around the corner to do some laundry and I heard this conversation.

The Hippie: Do you remember when we tried sitting on the potty together and going at the same time?
The Genius: Yeah, man, that was a bad idea.
