Little Cutie

This little cutie is finally feeling better.  This has been a long two weeks.  He still has a few days left on his medicine and we cannot wait for him to be done with it.  The meds are still making him quite....explosive.  He has 1 tooth peeking through and another you can feel but not really see yet.  He is growing up quickly!

Our Hippie....the Artist

The Hippie's latest work of art.  She did this painting of a planter at our church.  Again, I was just blown away by what she do when she has her mind made up to work hard on it and a good art teacher offering encouragement.

Warning! Yucky baby Pics

I mean it.  I am showing our cute little baby and the side effects of his medicines.  So, don't say I did not warn you.

I still think he looks adorable in these pics, but the mess was so gross.  It was all over him.  So far today he has had two more.  Luckily, these are staying IN his diapers! =)

Poor Little Professor

Our little man is sick.  Sick, sick, sick.  He has two teeth coming in.  His bottom two front teeth.  But Thursday night he started tugging on an ear.  Friday he woke up screaming around 4:30 a.m.  He felt really hot to me.  I eventually got my husband up because the Professor was upset and could not fall asleep and I had been trying for about an hour.  We took his temp. and it was over 102.  As soon as the doctor office opened I called and got him right in.  The poor little guy has a cold AND an ear infection.  He is on several meds.  He is very congested.  His fever kept going up and got over 103, so we have been alternating Tylenol and Motrin to try and bring it down.  The meds have also given him an upset tummy.  Now the poor guy is dizzy.  He keeps trying to stand and then falling over.  We could not figure out why...til we read his bright yellow labels.

A New Meal

Butternut Squash Tart

1 medium red onion - thinly sliced
1/4 of a butternut squash peeled and thinly sliced
1 teaspoon Thyme
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
Kosher salt and some Pepper
4 oz. Grated Sharp Cheddar
1 beaten egg
1 Refrigerated Pie Crust (the kind you unroll)

In a large bowl mix together the first 5 ingredients.  Fold in the cheese.  On a baking sheet unroll your pie crust.  Place the mix on the crust, leaving about 2 inches all around.  Fold over the extra.  Brush the crust with the beaten egg.  Place in oven and bake at 400 for 15 minutes.
This was SO good! We will make changes for next time...adding in fresh garlic, eliminating the salt and maybe adding in some crisp bacon.  Let me know if you try it!

Valentine's Tradition

A few years back I found these heart shaped ramekins.   I only found two though.

I used them for Valentine's Day a few years ago and a family tradition was born!  Now every year, the girls wake up to chocolate chip muffins and a gift laid out for them.  They eagerly await it and are always thrilled!  I am on the hunt for a new one, because next year the Professor will be old enough to join in on the fun!

Homemade Biter Biscuits

I got this recipe from a friend and made these for the Professor for his first Valentine's Day.

1 cup of Whole Wheat Flour
1 cup Infant oatlmeal
2 Tablespoons oil (olive, canola etc..)
2/3 cup juice (may need more or less)

Mix all ingredients in a bowl until it is just moistened.  It should all stick together but be semi dry.

Place the ball on a cookie sheet and sqaush it.  Then use a pizza slicer to cut it up into appropriate sized biscuits.  Bake at 425 for 12-15 minutes.  Let cool for awhile and they will get much harder.  Store in an air tight container.

Girls and their Dolls

My parents took their girls, and their dolls, to a play this weekend.  Aren't they pretty girls?  These pretty girls had a rough day today.  They started fighting and got into trouble.  I hate it when that happens.  But the day ended on a good note!  We played pictionary and wrestled and did our family devotions!  After they went to bed I started on my annual Valentine's tradition.

For the Love of an Avacado

Would you believe this little stinker is 7 months old now?? His new favorite foods are; pureed blueberries mixed with oatmeal, avacados, bananas and carrots.  He is a good eater.  The easiest baby I have had so far in the food department.  Now, if only I could get him to drink from a sippy cup or bottle.....
