My husband said I simply must record this conversation with the Hippie:
(This took place as she was brushing my hair)
H - Mommy, your hair is beautiful. It is brown and blondish and lightish.
M - Yeah, the lightish is because Mommy is getting gray hair.
H - Oh no Mommy. It is just blondish because you are not elderly at all you are YOUNG!
Kids are just so cute...especially our kids. LOL!

More Excitement
Someone in our house had an extra special day. Wanna guess who? It was the Genius! She was the TOP FUND RAISER out of her entire school for the American Heart Association!!! None of us had any idea. She said her gym teacher gave her a medal and read a special letter out loud. The letter came from the AHA headquarters. She was so proud and feels like she was able to help a lot of people.
As if that were not enough....both girls made the Summer Swim Team!
And just so the Professor does not feel left out...he made me happy by eating my homemade Rustic Cabbage Soup! He loves it! I love that he loves it, but am not loving the after effects on him. LOL!
Hope you are having a great day too!

Someone Special
Someone really kicked our week off with a bang! My dad showed up today with an envelope for us and said it was from "someone" to help with our van repairs. It will help us out quite a lot! We try very hard not to talk much about being unemployed and we strive to be thankful for our blessings, but some days we struggle. Sometimes we feel very forgotten and sometimes we just hurt. Getting a surprise like the one we got today...it just makes everything feel better! It is both intriguing and fun that we do not know who our "helper" is. We have both had lots of fun guessing. If you are that person and are reading this...just please know that it meant the world to us and you were prayed by our family tonight!
Have a great Monday everyone!

A very important date!
Sorry the pictures are not any better...once again they were taken on my phone. But today was a very, very special day! My husband and I went on our first date in 2011 and our second date in the past year. When we were employed we went out at least once a month...usually twice a month. This has been so hard on us to not be able to go out. Today my parents offered to keep all three kiddos, so off we went! What did we do? We splurged on a lunch out ($14), but that $14 bought us a loaf of fresh baked bread to eat on all week long! We split a delicious sandwich. It was so good. Then we hit some local thrift stores and garage sales and finished it off with a fountain diet coke! I know it may sound dull, but it was one of the best dates we have ever had! We just felt giddy being out together. It was amazing!!! I love my husband SO much and still get butterflies when we get to go on a date together.
Here's hoping for another date real soon, because it had been way too long!

My Reasons to Celebrate
They are each so different, fun, amazing and I love them more than they will ever comprehend.
Happy Mother's Day!

A Reminder
Today I got an email from the plastic surgeon. We need to email him some photographs of the Genius. Depending on what he sees it may be time for her next surgery. I remember going to him and he told us that this would happen when she was older, at least a year down the road. But I cannot believe that possibly the time is here. We no longer live near this doctor, but he is THE only plastic surgeon we will take her to. The poor girl is scared to death of doctors now, but she trusts this doctor. He has treated her, and us, so wonderfully well. He kept her from getting a skin graft done. He is the best! So, while it makes me sick to think of her having another surgery, I am thankful to have this doctor.
