I never let them sit because stains and smells just sit in too quickly. I always had a bucket with the solution in it that I could toss them into until I could rinse and wash. Now these were the old, plain white cloth diapers. I don't know much about the newer ones. It does save a TON of money though!Clairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03006681648840885472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3551613637087797362.post-83110368272733373922010-01-07T14:13:25.095-08:002010-01-07T14:13:25.095-08:00Well, All would def be out.. It works well, and gets 'em clean.

When I exclusively breastfed Natalie, I did NOTHING to the diapers before tossing them in the washer. I did one "quick wash" cycle of cold water and sometimes baking soda, then a hot water wash with homemade detergent. All the poo washed out, nothing left on the diapers, in the washer, etc.

Now that she's on solid foods, I do have to dunk or dump the solid material off into the toilet. I just get off whatever comes off easily and then wash as above. Some people get a sprayer that attaches to the toilet to spray off the diapers rather than dunking or swishing---you can look into it if interested.

Congrats on the great deal!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12318551837697222145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3551613637087797362.post-28903873478382437742010-01-07T09:15:14.077-08:002010-01-07T09:15:14.077-08:00I did cloth all the time (except Church for church...I did cloth all the time (except Church for church) with Donna and Kathlyn. Along with breastfeeding I can't imagine how much moolah we saved and I feel like I have definitely done my "green thing" (note to Al Gore). When we had Seth my husband said "enough". He is very much a hands on daddy even w/ the diapies, poopie and all. We just had plain ole, plain ole white w/ those humongo rubber britches!
haha. I would love doing cloth these days with all the fancy choices. Have fun!Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06052759760058716936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3551613637087797362.post-41734810689502302442010-01-07T08:53:53.201-08:002010-01-07T08:53:53.201-08:00For both Jacob and this baby I used All Baby... Kept my kiddos clothing VERY clean. Kelsey managed to get poo on everything daily. Dreft got it out! I used liquid and powdered both (depending on sales) and the stain remover. I have heard that Tide Free and Clear is the same with out the perfume. Could be possible because Dreft is made by Tide. The only downside to Dreft is it's cost...it rarely goes on sale and coupons are hard to come by.Kim M.noreply@blogger.com
